When we went camping last week, Kaeden came to talk to me about our neighbor at the campground. He was concerned because “the man looks at me like he is angry with me.” I told him I thought it could be the major rainstorms which caused his camping trip to be different than what he had hoped for. Kaeden responded “I think I will try to speak quieter, because maybe when I yell it makes him mad.”

Surely a milestone…or 5…all in one! Recognizing facial expression. Figuring out cause/effect. A solution….and taking what I had earlier told him (to be quiet) and applying it to the situation.

I was very impressed with this entire scenario. It is a milestone, but has the chance to become everyday now that it has happened! And I, too, have so many more…

Good to be back, Tanya. I missed you!

Excellent post. As far as the socialization classes – they have done wonders for my son. As to all the little things between the huge milestones, The Grateful Dead had a great lyric that sums that up for me; “There were days, and there were days, And there were days between”
Sometimes it’s those days between that make life special.
